Introducing UITP

The International Association of Public Transport

In 2020, we will celebrate 135 years of championing urban mobility.

Since 1885, UITP has worked to place advancing city living at the top of the agenda.

We’ve grown to become the only worldwide network to bring together all public transport stakeholders and all sustainable transport modes – and with that responsibility, one of the most recognised and trusted voices in the sector.

As a broad church of traditional modes and new mobility players, we’re a large family working together to enhance the quality of life and economic well-being of our cities.

We work alongside our global membership to support and promote sustainable transport in urban areas.

That large family houses more than 1700 members in 100 countries and we lead this charge with our talented team of staff in 17 offices.

Advocating for the very best urban mobility options means spreading the word on our sector at every turn.

With this responsibility comes the task of all seeing when and where change can be implemented.

Urban mobility is changing…and alongside our members, we’re leading that change.

We work alongside our members to support and promote sustainable transport in urban areas.

The collaboration between UITP, our members and BBC StoryWorks is the perfect opportunity to showcase to the world what public transport looks like, to put aside any misconceptions, and crucially, to see what it can become in the future.

You’ve met UITP and our vision. We now invite you to get to view our own mini-documentary and the work of a selection of our members as we join forces by #RedefiningPT
